SUMMARY:The Legendary Sattalites & DJ Jay NuFunk Reggae Night
DESCRIPTION:The Sattalites are now known as one of the longest-running and most successful reggae groups in Canada. Catch them live in an intimate setting at Hugh’s Room Live on Fri May 15\, 2026. Expect a vibrant mix of original hits and classic Jamaican favourites from a band whose roots trace back to Toronto’s Little Jamaica in the early ’80s—evolving from a community music school into a JUNO Award-winning reggae institution with international touring acclaim. With DJ Jay NuFunk spinning all vinyl classic reggae\, the night delivers a deep\, authentic throwback vibe from start to finish. \nFounded in Toronto in 1981\, The Sattalites grew out of a “pay-what-you-can” music school in Little Jamaica led by Jo Jo Bennett and Fergus Hambleton. Known for blending deep reggae roots with strong pop harmonies\, they quickly built a reputation for energetic live shows. Their 1985 debut album featuring “Wild” propelled them to international touring and earned them JUNO Awards in 1990 and 1993\, cementing their legacy in Canadian reggae history. \nJay “NuFunk” Cleary is a Toronto-based DJ\, promoter\, and vinyl collector\, and a founder behind NuFunk Concerts\, Make It Funky\, and Groovin in the Park. He has performed across Canada\, United States\, and Jamaica\, sharing stages with artists like UB40\, Femi Kuti\, and Stephen Marley. Also known as a skilled guitarist\, Jay currently plays with roots-reggae outfit Reggaddiction\, bringing a deep musicality to his genre-spanning DJ sets rooted in reggae\, dub & dancehall.

SUMMARY:Abendmusik: from Buxtehude to Bach
