DALA

Rating: NNN

buy this at amazon.ca!

Dala are two 20-something singer/songwriter chicks who write seemingly effortless dreamy acoustic pop with a little Sarah McLachlan base — you know, that totally Canadian harmless sweet-voiced stuff. Lyrically, Dala are poetically and whimsically juvenile in the ‘I’m making paper flowers that fall to the ground’ and ‘I’ll wear you out like one more patch on my jeans’ manner, which is cute and almost comforting in the nostalgic ‘remember when we thought these thoughts were new?’ kind of way. They even have references to ‘drinking coffee’! If I were 22, I might think they were freakin’ brilliant, but I’m so very not. Lovely, charming little clichéd ditties.

Dala join the Open Door benefit at the Mod Club tonight (Thursday, November 10).
