DEF LEPPARD X (Mercury) Rating: NN Rating: NN
There are few things I would enjoy more than to be totally blown away by Def Leppard’s new disc, to discover that through some magical formula they’ve managed to put themselves back on the map. But the fact is, the boys’ve had their day. X is even more lacklustre than Euphoria, if that’s possible, completely bereft of the arena anthems of Pyromania and Hysteria, or even the wailing, punchy rock ballads. There are some sorry attempts at aping AC/DC on Four Letter Word, but X mostly falls into the icky category of boring adult rock. Damn.
