Dropkick Murphys Blackout (Hellcat) Rating: NNNN Rating: NNNN

Last year, Woody Guthrie’s daughter Nora approached the Dropkick Murphys to suggest that they put some of her father’s unpublished lyrics to music. The result is the title track on the Murphys’ fourth studio disc, Blackout. Though probably not exactly how Woody might have imagined it, Gonna Be A Blackout Tonight is a catchy shout-along piece o’ work that immortalizes Guthrie in a new fashion. With an agenda like a more hardcore Billy Bragg, the Murphys have always managed to avoid punk clich&eacutes with their Stiff Little Fingers, the Clash and Pogues mixture, and Blackout is no exception.
