ERASURE

Rating: NN

It seems like just a year ago that Erasure released their last concert DVD. Wait a minute — it was just a year ago. So why have they decided to drop this one so soon? Sure, The Tank, The Swan, And The Balloon was the record of a show from 1992, whereas this is from last year, but it’s not like they’ve added too many hits to their catalogue in the past decade. This time around, the stage sets are disappointingly minimalist and look cheap and thrown together, while last time the visuals were genuinely interesting and well done. There’s still some fun and camp, but Andy Bell might want to reconsider ordering custom gay Elvis jumpsuits at this point in his life even diehard Elvis fanatics concede that it wasn’t his most attractive period. In the interview section, Bell reveals that he prefers smaller venues like the ones they played on this tour, but really, they make a much better stadium band. Rabid Erasure fans will likely get some enjoyment out of this, but most of you will want to skip it in favour of last year’s offering.
