Ex-con politico has edge in York race

Mario Gentile, the former Metro councillor who went to jail for influence-peddling and is running again in York, is baring his soul in campaign literature.

“My longstanding service to our community became clouded due to a lack of judgment,” he writes. “I had lost focus of my basic responsibility.” He doesn’t have any big names endorsing his candidacy, but Frank DiGiorgio, his main rival and former colleague, is giving his adversary the edge so far. “The question is, can people forget what he did?”
