Guided By Voices Earthquake Glue (Matador) Rating: NNN Rating: NNN

As exciting as it would be to report a drastic shake-up in Robert Pollard’s Guided by Voices pop factory, that’s not going to happen. There are no drastic alterations to the 20-year-old game plan, no sudden shift toward techno or booty beats. Instead, another trip to the studio for Pollard means another fistful of thrill-pop songs. From the no-frills production on down, there’s little to distinguish Earthquake Glue from the shelves of GBV records that have already been released. As they breeze by in two-minute increments, you’ll be convinced you’ve heard songs like A Trophy Mule In Particular and The Best Of Jill Hives, but since you’re singing along you probably won’t notice.
