Boston trio Guster are trying to outgrow their past. These over-educated, über-sensitive boys have played pop-folk with two acoustic guitars and bongos on their last three albums, to the delight of philosophy majors across North America. For Keep It Together, they’re incorporating electric guitars, violins, cellos, a mellotron, a drum kit and, well, just about every other instrument they could get their hands on. It won’t distract anyone from the fact that their sappy songs are played with zero intensity.
