MINI REVIEW
Nominally set in an apartment block on the outskirts of Toronto, Joel Ivanys colourful production of the all-ages opera begins well but soon collapses into incoherence. The singing and conducting are fine especially that enchanting act one prayer scene but the concept, set and projections are distracting, inconsistent and nonsensical. The potentially sweet tale leaves a strange aftertaste.
