Incest between two adult half-siblings is the hook of Sewitsky’s character study, but Homesick isn’t interested in sensationalism it’s a deeply empathetic character study of a desperately lonely Oslo woman (Ine Wilmann) who finds herself sleeping with her older half-brother (Simon J. Berger) out of some inexplicable drive for connection.
Wilmann’s smiling-on-the-outside misery is riveting: she’s playing someone who doesn’t know what she wants, but knows what she needs – and hates herself for it.
