CLOTHING:”I got my motorcycle boots at St. Mark’s Place in New York City for $110 U.S. and my socks from the General Store in Mindemoya, Manitoulin Island, for $2. My pink kilt is from a second-hand shop called Bernard G.F. in Brussels. It was $29. The copper bat pin was made by my seven-year-old son, Jacob. My long-sleeved undershirt was $60 from François Beauregard in Montreal. This cotton button overshirt was $4 at an all-night market in Hong Kong. My silver hoop earrings came from a shop on Brunswick Street in Melbourne and cost $8. My 11-year-old daughter, Hallie, made my peace choker. I bought this shell choker from a northern-tribe woman on the streets of Bangkok for $2.”

HAIR:”My dreads happened one night on Khao Sarn Road in Bangkok for $120. Karen, ‘the dread queen’ at Pretty Eclectic (502 Queen West, 416-203-6620), keeps them going.”

INTO: “Stanislavsky vs. Meisner fast, cheap, good – who says you can only pick two?”
