Shakespearean actor and Classics PhD Christopher Kelk introduce and read from his 2010 translation of the 16 satires of the Roman poet Juvenal (c. AD 55-138). Juvenal provides a decadent portrayal of Roman society in the 2nd century. Corruption, money-grubbing, decadent dining, gluttony and sycophancy fill Juvenal’s work. 2 pm.
