Shocking as it may seem, for the past four years, some of the most exciting advancements in the field of quasi-instrumental hiphop have been made in the sleepy Hamilton burb of Dundas, Ontario, by this kid named Koushik Ghosh. The surprisingly great Be With disc compiles Koushik’s three EP-length experiments, which show that our man has gone well beyond the usual turntable wank and record collection show ‘n’ tell associated with the genre. He comes up with his own darkly twisted dreamscape concept, where ghostly voices float over head-nodding beats for a b-boy thriller of a non-existent film soundtrack. Some forward-looking movie producer should hire this Koushik hombre quick.
