Liam Titcomb

Rating: NNN

At first glance, young Canuck buck Liam Titcomb looks more like a soap star than a singer/songwriter. But take away his looks and you discover a rich voice that belies his unripe age of 17. This Torontonian isn’t afraid to veer away from the typical sound of his maple teen peers, which inevitably means he’s destined to have a fan base twice his age. Titcomb’s debut album is marked by a poppy, folk-filled grandeur and poetic vocals with a pinch of country twang. On My So-Called Life, he pays homage to another well-known Titcomb, his father, Brent, while displaying his own decent but fairly safe songwriting abilities. The disc was produced by a conglomerate of biz professionals, and Sony’s hoping that Titcomb’s name will be hard for music-savvy folk to ignore.
