MEAT LOAF Couldn’t Have Said It Better ( Capitol/EMI ) Rating: NNNN Rating: NNNN
As soon as you hear that title track – in all its horrid, lovely, campy, dramatic, rock and roll show tune glory – you know you’ve got a Meat Loaf album. The disc is divided into two “chapters”: Parte The Firste includes the storytelling rock opera element with the long songs, while Parte The Seconde pares it down a little – just a bit – until the last 10-minute-long number. Nikki Sixx contributes to the writing, and there’s a Meat-Loafed-up rendition of Tear Me Down from Hedwig, which only the king of meat rock could possibly do total justice to while not dressed in womenswear. Sit back, relax and let the theatrics wash over you.
