PINK

Rating: NN

Pop/RockPINK Missundaztood (Arista/BMG) Rating: NNPink returns to regale top 40 listeners with her own take on a concept album. Pretty lame concept, though — apparently we had Pink pegged all wrong, OK? Missundaztood features the rosy-haired diva whining about how fake her image is on all 14 tracks of flaccid poppy rock, most of which sounds like a cross between Gwen Stefani (sans ska) and Roxette. Maybe she’s being true to herself, but baby doesn’t seem to be having a helluva lot of fun, with nary a You Make Me Sick to be found. Even the ostensibly ad libbed interludes seem forced. But contrary to Britney’s orgiastic bondage bit, Pink’s tunes address her target audience. Sure, songs about divorced parents and low self-esteem tend toward the trite, but at least maybe some 10-year-olds can relate.
