If hero worship were rewarded with money and hamburgers, then California’s gloom-pop act She Wants Revenge would be billionaires atop a mountain of quarter-pounders, thanks to their less-than-subtle homage to Joy Division and early Depeche Mode.
Obviously that’s never really gonna be a bad thing, and on their sophomore release, the band, led by the nasal and sedated Justin Warfield, do what they can to forge a semblance of originality on songs like This Is The End and True Romance.
Unfortunately, they never quite break away from like-minded contemporary acts like Interpol in their execution. On a disc that ultimately exhausts itself with boredom and clichés, it’s just not worth it.
