Packaged with the new 10-year retrospective CD of SIANspheric releases comes a tidy little DVD with a number of interesting tidbits for the curious. The main entry is a 25-minute documentary that tracks the history of the band through home video clips and some amateur show footage. It feels a bit infomercialish, but it’s got some hilarious early moments with the young and slightly geeky band travelling to their shows and not receiving the warmest reception. The included videography makes it easy to see how far they’ve come. Their dreamy, spacey shoegazey sounds are well paired with moody, cinematic videos, some adapted from short films. One of those films is included as a special feature alongside another short scored by the band. This isn’t a DVD you’d buy the CD for, but it’s a fun and interesting little bonus for anyone interested in an overview of SIANspheric’s history.

SIANspheric launch the RGB DVD Friday (August 5) at the Drake.
