A hodgepodge of half-realized songs built up with the sort of desperate studio dabbling of a band that’s completely lost the plot. With production ace Brendan O’Brien offering informed opinions and the ability to conjure just about any classic rock gimmick the Stone Temple Pilots could imagine, Shangri-La Dee Da has a few catchy moments, but it isn’t a confident, focused statement that would indicate that STP are once again large and in charge.
