Supersuckers

SUPERSUCKERS at Lee’s Palace (529 Bloor West), tonight (June 13), 1 am, NXNE wristband or $15. nxne.com.

You can’t proclaim yourself Greatest Rock ‘n’ Roll Band in the World without your tongue being at least partially in cheek. That half-sincere humour is key to Supersuckers’ two-and-a-half-decade career at the intersection of rock and country. They’ve outlived the anomaly of being a 90s Seattle band signed to Sub Pop that doesn’t play grunge and survived an ill-fated major label all by revelling in the sex, Satan and whisky excess of their genre. Expect a party.

If you like Supersuckers, also check out Social Distortion at Yonge-Dundas Square, tonight (Thursday, June 13), 9 pm, free or White Cowbell Oklahoma at Lee’s Palace, tonight (Thursday, June 13), midnight, NXNE wristband or $15.
