This hefty little white moulded plastic Talking Heads box is being called “the Brick” for obvious reasons, but what may come as a surprise is that their eight studio albums are included here in Dual Disc form and have been digitally remastered by Jerry Harrison in DVD-Audio 5.1 surround sound. Even if you don’t have your home system rigged like a movie theatre, the upgrade in sound quality is substantial enough that you can still appreciate the enhancements, especially with densely layered productions like Remain In Light and Speaking In Tongues. However, the increased clarity does no favours to Fear Of Music and actually seems to take away some of its mysterious magic. Each disc includes previously unreleased studio outtakes that reveal some of the creation process, but the few performance clips on the DVD sides appear to have been added as an afterthought. Rumour has it that Rhino plans to roll out the individual discs in early 2006.
