by Wendy Wasserstein (Soulpepper Theatre). This comedy follows a woman from 1960s teen to 80s career woman while exploring feminism, friendship and social change. Previews from May 16, opens May 24 and runs to Jun 24 (extended from Jun 18), see website for schedule. $32-$94.
This 1988 play offers a perceptive and nuanced take on conflicting notions of womanhood and is still clever, funny and relevant under Gregory Prests cohesive direction. Still, the script doesnt illuminate its main character, whos kept on the fringes of society fine as Michelle Monteiths Heidi is, shes periodically overshadowed by more clearly crafted characters.
