Under the lights of the gorgeous Harbourfront Centre Theatre on Saturday, May 30, three songwriters, and three writers, will debut newly commissioned works evoked and inspired by the catalogue of Winnipeg’s Giller-nominated Miriam Toews, creating new art out of existing art (songs, stories, poems and more). The evening will be hosted by writer/musician (and Rheostatic) Dave Bidini and will feature performances by John K. Samson, Christine Fellows, Tom Wilson, Grand Analog, Scaachi Koul, Mustafa the Poet & Miriam Toews.

Torn From the Pages, born from the imagination of Bidini, is an evening where the worlds of books and music collide a frisson of prose and melody based on the work of a single artist, in this case, Miriam Toews. This is the fourth instalment of Torn From the Pageswhich has previously celebrated Michael Crummey, Stephen Heighton, Claudia Dey, Linden MacIntyre and othersand is the first to be staged in the intimate and grand setting of Harbourfront Centre Theatre, promising a historic literary and music event that should not be missed.
