Wild T is Tony Springer, a fixture on the local scene for years, who can play just about anything on the guitar and is blessed with an almost perfect blues rock voice. But he hasn’t moved past traditional chord changes and “Honey, honey, well, it’s plain to see our love was meant to be” lyrics, making True Bliss stall before it’s out of the gate. The one cover on the album might say everything about where Tony’s record collection ends. Twenty years ago Rough Trade’s High School Confidential had a dangerous appeal, but now it’s trite, even with Carole Pope’s guest vocals.
Wild T and the Spirit play Healey’s Saturday (May 22).
