WHAT: Robert Mondavi Cabernet Sauvignon 2005 (red) Rating: NNN
WHERE: Napa Valley, California
WHY: Not long ago, Mondavi was bought out by Constellation, the wine industry equivalent of the Beatles’ publishing rights being purchased by Michael Jackson: whale swallows whale. Lots of finesse, with hints of chocolate cake (hey, don’t laugh) bolstered by 15 per cent alcohol make this premium bottle a reliable pick for deluxe dining.
