Because the booze belongs to Daddy

WHAT: Dupont Moinette Brune Rating: NNNN

WHERE: Wallonia, Belgium

WHY: Let’s pop a top with Pops. Dupont has long set a high standard in content and marketing while maintaining its farmhouse operation. This mahogany-hued high-alcohol ale will warm Dad up with notes of plum pudding, toasty malt and just a touch of sour. Dandy.

PRICE: 330 ml/$3.25

AVAILABILITY: At select liquor stores while quantities last (product #322065)

WHAT: Lemon Hart Demerara Rum Rating: NNNN

WHERE: Demerara, Guyana

WHY: If this dark rum was good enough for the British Navy, then it’s good enough for the old man. Oodles of brown sugar in the nose, sided by candied orange and something plummy and port-like. Medium dry with an I-can’t-stop-drinking-this quality. Canadian owned, too. Lemon Hart, so good to have you aboard. Great deal at sale price.

PRICE: 750 ml/$24.70 (sale price until June 23)

AVAILABILITY: At select liquor stores (product #323915)
