Getting ginned up

Rendle’s Original Gin

Rating NNN

Why Exotic spices, tropical fruit and summer blossoms lead the profile of this new (meaning recently released and not London Dry) English gin. Based on a recipe developed in the 30s by one Captain Edgcumbe Rendle of the Indian Army, its blush hue comes from mysterious “natural” and probably exotic ingredients.

Whitley Neill Handcrafted Dry Gin

Rating NNNN

Why Inspired by Africa but distilled in the UK by fourth-generation ginsmith Johnny Neill, this gin include botanical baobab and Cape gooseberry fruit. It’s smooth and citrusy with a wallop of juniper.

Boodles British Gin

Rating NNN

Why London Dry style and a creamy, juniper-forward nip that, unlike most gins, contains nary a trace of citrus (choose your own adventure by adding a slice of lemon or lime). Its piney spine is rounded out by less traditional botanicals like nutmeg, rosemary and sage. Solid G&T territory.

Price 750 ml/$29.95
