Harvest apples, drink cider

Pommies Farmhouse Cider

Rating: NNN

Why I’m a fan of funky ciders (or anything funky, for that matter), and this offering from Caledon has just enough rusticity to keep it interesting. It’s also far less sweet and way more crushable than the original Pommies.

Price 473 ml/$3.05

Shiny Apple Cider

Rating: NNN

Why Made from Ontario apples at Niagara’s Small Talk Vineyards, Shiny is gluten-free (like all cider) and vegan-friendly. Winemaker Angela Kasimos adds a portion of Riesling to the blend, a natural complement to the bright, fruit-forward tartness of apples.

Price 473 ml/$3.25
