A weekly look at what’s on LCBO shelves
WHAT: Kaiken Malbec 2008 (red) Rating: NNN

WHY: Chileans often define themselves by the ways in which they are not like their brash Argentine neighbours. Sound familiar? So when Montes of Chile decided to produce wine in Mendoza, the Andes weren’t the only barrier they had to negotiate. The invasion has paid off with a focused, spicy, serious Malbec at an attractive price. Cheap enough for casual tippling, good enough for serious sipping.
