Local wheats perfect summer sippin’

Rating: NNN

Why: This makes me want to rustle Muskoka’s sun-kissed mane and affectionately confide, “Ya done good, kid.” Aromatic, full of flavour and straightforward enough to session a six-pack on a picnic blanket.

Price: 6 x 341 ml/$13.50

Availability: At most liquor stores (product #345017)

Rating: NNNN

Why: Denison’s is the granddaddy of Ontario weiss, a pillar of craft to which the new brews on the block continually aspire. Tropical fruits, citrus and wheat strike an agreement with spice and acidity, and suddenly it makes so much sense why Denison’s has been doing it and doing it so damn well for over 20 years.

Price: 473 ml/$2.70

Availability: At most liquor stores (product #132480)

Rating: NN

Why: Wafts of bread and oranges are inviting, but the mouth party’s a tad tamer than expected. Though I’m left wishing for the liquid to taste as dynamic as the bottle looks, typical traces of zested oranges, yeast and spice make this an easy summer option.

Price: 500 ml/$4.25

Availability: At most liquor stores and the Beer Store (product #242552)
