Hailing from Guyana’s fabled sugar-producing region around the Demerara River, these weighty old-style rums are often blended with lighter, younger ones to imbue heft and complexity. This heady, molasses-rich rum is great in holiday cocktails: add a cup to round out a thin punch and keep in mind that eggnog season is just around the corner. Note that the cool retro label isn’t contrived to appeal to hip consumers (I’m looking at you, Sailor Jerry) – it’s been the same since the brand launched in the 1930s.
