WHY: They’ve done the aging for you with this wine, which is great if you don’t have a basement, a wine fridge or patience. Maturity can tone down the bombast of Australian wines. Rowdy fellows alcohol, eucalyptus and jammy fruit are still present and accounted for, but they’ve been rooming together now for five years, so they’ve mellowed out and learned to play as a team. You can even take them home to Mother, especially if she likes a bargain.
