Apologies to the Tulip, but when we want to sink our teeth into a New York strip loin, we insist the beef be sliced as thick as the pile on a shag carpet. Where better than the former Julie’s Mansion, a Victorian pile from back in the 60s (the 1860s) that screams “special occasion”? Retro starters like iceberg lettuce wedges with blue cheese dressing, shrimp cocktail and escargots underline the trip back in time.
