16 Toronto restaurants doing Easter dinner specials

Round two of Easter in lockdown is here and by now most of us are pros at distanced holiday celebrations.

It’s not ideal to be separated from family during a communal holiday, but you can always soothe your woes with a good meal.

Here is a list of Toronto restaurants serving Easter and Good Friday dinners available for pick-up and delivery. The menus run the gamut from Argentinian to Indonesian cuisine and everything in between. Lamb and rhubarb seem to be the most popular, making an appearance on almost every single restaurant’s offering.

Alobar

The Yorkville restaurant’s Easter offering is quickly selling out but their holiday menu is available until April 5. The eight-course tasting menu includes chilled lobster with lime aioli and jalapeño, beef carpaccio, Bibb salad, truffle risotto with peas and pecorino romano, Ontario lamb loin and grilled tenderloin, mille-feuille with vanilla chantilly for dessert and even more courses in between. Brazen Head 

This Irish pub’s three-course Easter dinner starts with a smoked salmon platter, the main is a choice between slow-roasted lamb shank, poached halibut or roasted half-head of cauliflower. For dessert: a carrot cake with vanilla bean and whiskey cream cheese icing and Cadbury Mini Egg crumble. Sister restaurant Murphy’s Law (1702 Queen East) is offering the same dinner. Pre-order here

La Palma

The Trinity Bellwoods restaurant’s Easter hamper includes King Capon chicken with herb butter and peppercorn jus, asparagus and roasted mushroom, tender leaf salad, lasagna verde and a lemon chiffon cake for dessert.

Little Sister

Little Sister is serving a Dutch-Indonesian Easter meal. It includes Northern Sumatra-style lamb redang, Balinese-spiced quinoa, roasted Brussel sprouts with spicy tamarind dressing and cumin and coriander roasted carrots with rujak glaze. Pre-orders are now open.

Marben

Marben’s heat-at-home Easter kits come with lamb fat brioche, spring radishes with lamb bacon, pickled onion, preserved peaches and mulberry vinaigrette, rolled leg of lamb, white bean and dandelion stew, licorice, roasted squash with parsnip and onion and a purple carrot cake with chartreuse cream cheese frosting. Milou 

This new Dundas West restaurant has set menus for Good Friday and Easter. The Friday menu includes devilled eggs, green beans gratinée, branzino and carrot cake pudding. Sunday’s dinner includes a little gem lettuce salad with buttermilk dressing, shrimp cocktail, prime rib roast and hot cross buns with rhubarb glaze. Place orders by email

Phancy’s Bodega

This online bodega is serving up a classic Easter feast. The choices for main course are between an orange-and-cranberry-decorated mini ham roast or stuffed portobello mushroom wellington. French onion potato pave, green peas with garlic and herb butter, devilled egg lettuce cups and carrot cake roulade bring the meal together. Pre-orders are open for pick-up and delivery.

Pompette 

This bistro in Little Italy is serving a pared back French Easter dinner. It starts with sourdough bread and Chagnon butter, white beans and winter veggies, oeuf parfait and roasted leeks with goat cheese. But the pièce de résistance is the lamb from Tamarack Farms in Roseneath, Ontario, served with herbs viennoise and gratin dauphinois. Pre-order here

Richmond Station

This downtown restaurant specializes in Canadian fare. The three-course Easter meal features lamb from Buschbeck Farm in Markdale, Ontario, served with roasted fingerling potatoes, glazed hakurei turnips, salsa verde and mustard dressing. A spring harvest salad, organic wheat buns and a rhubarb galette round out the menu. Pre-orders are open now for delivery and pick-up.

Rodney’s Oyster House

Rodney’s specializes in a wide variety of raw oysters on the half shell and other delights from the sea. For Easter, their doing a Bunny Brunch for pick up. Choose from shucked or unshucked oysters, crab brugers, hot smoked salmon rosti, oyster fritters, lobster huevo ranchero and more. Pre-orders are open now.

Salt Wine Bar

Known for Portuguese and Spanish tapas and shareable plates, Salt’s Easter offering encompasses more traditional fare. The five course dinner includes house-smoked wild salmon with lemon-dill crème fraiche and pickled red onion, heirloom beets with soft goat cheese and cara cara orange, truffle gnocchi, crispy duck confit with mashed potato and pickled grapes, and dark chocolate terrine for dessert. Tanto 

This Argentinian eatery is serving an Easter dinner composed of smoked white fish rillettes with rye crackers, burrata with spring peas and grilled lemon jam, a choice between house-smoked ham or poached salmon, scalloped potatoes and rhubarb-pistachio cake. Pre-order here

Ten Toronto

In normal times, Ten does intricate tasting menus for 10 guests at a time at its chef’s counter. For Easter, the restaurant is doing a feast for two using local produce that’s just coming into season. The lamb shoulder barbacoa (can sub for maitake mushroom to make it vegetarian) is served with wild onions, tortillas and a cabbage cilantro slaw, an asparagus salad, a sunchoke and potato gratin and a rhubarb crumble for dessert. The Chase

The Chase’s curated prix fixe menu includes buttermilk cheddar biscuits with truffle crema, bibb salad, potato gnocchi in butter sauce, roasted lamb with bell pepper agrodolce and banoffee pie with dulce de leche and coconut cream. Pre-orders are now open

The Drake

The Drake’s annual “Feaster” dinner is available at the Drake Hotel and Drake Commissary. The menu includes apple-and-dijon-glazed house-smoked ham, roast baby potatoes with chive and garlic butter, charred Brussels sprouts with spiced maple dressing, roast butternut squash with rosemary shallot gremolata and whiskey-scented pineapple frangipane with slow roast pineapple and sweet cream for dessert. The Dundas West pescatarian Italian restaurant is doing Easter dinner two ways. The vegan option includes mixed lettuces, frisée, chives, avocado & hazelnuts with an artichoke & truffle vinaigrette, caramelle melanzane filled with plant-based mozzarella and eggplant with parsnip puree, grilled asparagus with a roasted garlic and potato crema and vegan tiramisu. The fish option includes burrata with endive, baby kale, walnut vinaigrette, candied pears and pink peppercorns, Icelandic cod, clams and mussels in a saffron broth with new potatoes and Swiss chard, the same grilled asparagus and normal tiramisu.
