Allwyn's Bakery to take over former home of Fresh Off The Boat
First came the Taco Bell, then the Popeye’s. Big food brands have set their sights on Queen and Spadina in recent years, so when an independent business takes over a vacant storefront, it’s always a pleasant surprise.
The latest arrival is none other than Allwyn’s Bakery, a long-running North York spot beloved for its jerk chicken, beef patties, coco bread and other Jamaican faves. The new Allwyn’s will be moving into 404 Queen West, a storefront recently vacated by seafood joint Fresh Off The Boat.
The company has expanded from its strip-mall roots in the past few years to include locations at Yonge and Sheppard and the Queensway, but this will be their first downtown outpost. Currently, the opening date is set for March 21 – so we’ll all be chowing down on jerk chicken sandwiches before you know it.
