While there are lots of places to eat in the NXNE nabe, not all of them of them are very good. Here’s a roundup of recommended before-the-show eateries close to the clubs. If your record label’s paying, Innocenti (587 King West, 203-0551) is a great spot to splash out. With its Mediterranean-inspired menu and elegantly streamlined decor, this comfy boite is bound to make an impression on the execs.
Those on a budget should head for Co Yen (334 Spadina, 597-1573), a Vietnamese take-away whose sensational spice-spiked sandwiches will set you back all of a dollar. Up the street at Elixir (401 Spadina, 597-2915), discover the taste-intense cuisine of Persia with dishes like pomegranate-walnut chicken or eggplant smothered in onion and sun-dried goat cheese.
Though they’re known more as cool hangs where even cooler turntablists throw down tunes, both 52 Inc (394 College, 960-0334) and Ciao Edie (489 College, 927-7774) match their hip quotient with tasty salads, s’wiches and pizza. Over in Kensington Market, subterranean Vanipha (193 Augusta, 340-0491) dishes up the best Thai in Toronto.
And if your party rocks around the clock, 2 Chez (3 Charles East, 968-9078) and 7 West (7 Charles West, 928-9041) serve vibin’ vittles 24-7.
