One of Toronto's favourite craft brewers (and one of our favourite beer bars) is expanding. The owners of Bellwoods Brewery announced on their blog today that they are moving into the enormous, derelict and somewhat fabulous space at 950 Dupont St. (at Dovercourt).
From the blog:
"For a long time here at Bellwoods headquarters - and by headquarters I mean the keg I flipped upside down so that sitting on it wouldn't be so painful - our main issue has been the inability to keep up with demand. The building Bellwoods Brewery will soon occupy has sat cold and empty for awhile. However, the landlord will be doing renovations to get things up to mechanical standards, and the team at Bellwoods Brewery has big plans to transform this domain into a place where craft beer fans and foodies can get comfortable and enjoy the atmosphere."
The new location will feature a production brewery, a restaurant and tasting room and a barrel room that will free up space at their current locale, which, lucky for us, will give them more brewing space.
Should things run according to plan, they could be ready to open up by next summer.
