The Black Hoof’s restaurant collab with Arcade Fire is open

If you follow the Toronto food scene at all, you know the fairytale by heart. Arcade Fire frontcouple Win Butler and Regine Chassagne stop by Rhum Corner one evening and bond with owner and Black Hoof restaurateur Jen Agg and her husband Roland Jean Chassagne bangs out a beat with glasses and spoons when the sound system cuts out, and the four of them decide, then and there, to open a restaurant.

After an opening date that was pushed back and back from the projected fall 2015 launch (local bylaws, am I right?), Agrikol is finally a real place you can visit in Montreal’s Centre-Sud neighbourhood (1844 Rue Amherst).

The hordes were summoned to the spot by none other than Butler himself this weekend when the bar hosted an afterparty for the Kanpe Kanaval fundraiser for Haiti, featuring David Byrne:

Glimpses trickling out so far on social media show some tasty-looking cocktails (with liberal doses of rum, in keeping with Jean’s fabled love of the spirit) and a time-worn island vibe. They’re currently open Thursdays through Mondays, so get ready to hop a Megabus! (Actually, maybe don’t hop a Megabus.)
