Anthony Bourdain’s last big trip to Toronto was in 2012 while filming his show The Layover, he heaped praise on Agave Y Aguacate (RIP), destroyed a bowl of Poutini’s with Fucked Up, and said some snarky things about our architecture. The chef turned author, TV host and culinary anti-hero will be heading back this way this fall, but he ain’t comin’ to eat: Bourdain has booked a November 1 date at the Sony Centre for the Performing Arts, as part of an 11-city tour entitled The Hunger.
The string of performances, meant to promote the upcoming cookbook Appetites, Bourdain’s first in a decade, promises “an unyielding, brutally honest monologue reflecting on diverse culture, street cuisine and his travels to lesser-known locations around the world”. Tickets start at $60 and go all the way up to $300 for a VIP package with a meet-and-greet. Seats go on sale May 20, but you can pre-register now for a presale that starts May 2.
