The Grilled Cheese is gone for good

Looks like the Grilled Cheese is officially toast. After shutting down temporarily in the wake of a public airing of grievances by its employees, the Kensington Market sandwich joint is up for lease.

The commercial storefront at 66 Nassau now boasts a for-lease sign, and Kijiji features a rental listing advertising “the famous Grilled Cheese of Kensington Market.”

In June, employees stepped forward alleging that owner Robbie Yuill owed them several weeks’ worth of back wages, and would allegedly react to complaints and pleas for payment with threats of violence. The doors to the restaurant were shut a few days after the reports surfaced – ostensibly on a temporary basis, though from the looks of those signs, the closure appears to be final.
