the weather's never a problem at Jumbo Empanadas (245 Augusta, at Baldwin, 416-977-0056). Owner-chef Irene Morales no longer sells her Chilean turnovers rain or shine from a food cart parked on a curb in the heart of bustling Kensington Market. She's now taken over a casual space a little south of her former perch. Not only is there indoor seating, but her funky spot also sports a tent-covered patio out front.
While the digs are different, her fare remains fabulous. Empanadas -- think Cornish pasty with latin fillings -- are the draw here, and as its name suggests, they're much larger than usual.
Imagine delicious 8-inch rectangles, triangles and semi-circles stuffed with shredded beef or chicken, raisins, hard-boiled egg and black olives. Or a vegetarian version full of red pepper, mushrooms, spinach and onion (all $3). Don't forget to add a healthy dollop of Morales's incendiary salsa (also available in $3 to $7 jars).
