Eat Some Good: Interview – Talking health washing with filmmaker Damon Gameau

Have you ever been on the hunt for some healthy grub and been enticed by labels like ‘low fat’, ‘low sodium’, ‘natural’, or ‘lite’. Sound familiar? Food manufacturers everywhere have jumped on the health bandwagon and packaged their products accordingly. They know you want to eat healthy. They’re banking on it. Unfortunately, this kind of packaging is often misleading and created to intentionally lead you to believe you’re making a healthy choice even when you might not be.

As a holistic nutritionist and former consumer affairs host (remember Street Cents?) Kim D’Eon jumped at the chance to support the recent Canadian Premiere of That Sugar Film, which centers around one man’s journey to discover the bitter truth behind hidden sugar.

She chats with Australian filmmaker, Damon Gameau about the film. Gameau employs a similar story-telling technique to Morgan Spurlock in Supersize Me, but Gameau points the finger at the hidden sugars in commonly perceived “healthy” foods.

That Sugar Film is playing at the Cineplex Yonge Dundas until Friday (July 17) and will be available on VOD as of July 31.
