La Croisee closes

La Croisee (the crossing in English), just south of Eglinton on Bayview (1620 Bayview, at Manor), has closed. Opened in late 2013, the restaurant was decidedly French the 24-seat place served up dishes like French onion soup, escargots de Bourgogne and roast duck, cooked by chef Adrien Bailleux from Dijon, France.

Diners were typically greeted with an amuse bouche (a rarity at many Toronto dining establishments) and the restaurant enjoyed good reviews on Yelp, TripAdvisor and UrbanSpoon but that wasnt enough to save the fledging place, which has already taken down their website. No word on who will take over the space next, but as La Croisee also revamped an existing restaurant (barbecue joint Highway 61 used to occupy the space), Leasiders can probably bet a new restaurateur will try again.
