Latin food stand opens in Kensington

There’s a new food stand in Kensington Market, courtesy of chef/owner Lorena Ramos and her daughter Sully Rios. Latin Taste (200 Baldwin, at Littlehayes Lane, 416-542-1486, facebook.com/416LatinTaste) serves up Uruguayan and Argentinian style food like empanadas ($2.50) and veal and chicken sandwiches ($5.95).

On weekends, Ramos and Rios dole out Peruvian food (Ramos’s specialty), like arroz con pollo ($7), which is chicken, rice and vegetables simmered with cilantro, beer and spices mazamorra morada ($5), a blue corn and fruit pudding and ceviche de pescado ($10), fish marinated in lime juice, cilantro and rocoto pepper.

All food items, save for the Uruguayan Chajá, a layered sponge cake with meringue, dulche de leche, whipped cream and peaches ($4 a slice, $25 for the whole cake) are $10 and under.

See listing.
