The Parkdale Tibetan restaurant from the same owners as Tibet Kitchen is opening a second location
Some of the city’s best dumplings are coming to Yorkville. The Momo House, a popular Parkdale Tibetan restaurant, is opening a second location at 1428 Bay, conveniently right next to the Bay subway entrance.
The Momo House is run by the same owners as Tibet Kitchen, whose beloved momos (briefly endangered by gentrification) made our list of Toronto’s best dumplings. It’s rare to see a Parkdale spot moving in on the swanky environs of Yorkville and not vice versa, but it’s hard to complain.
The momos at Momo House, though newer then Tibet Kitchen, are just as celebrated. You can get them with chili or butter chicken sauce, tandoori, chaat and more. They come fried and steamed. And you can wash it all down with a mango lassi.
It looks like there’s quite a bit of work left to do from their Instagram stories, but owner Garab Lama tells NOW in an email that they plan to open on October 17 if all things go smoothly.
Many restaurants have been closing due to the pandemic, but there has been a mini-explosion of comfort food spots in the city – especially ones that are delivery-friendly.
It’s hard to think of food much more comforting than these momos.
