Nachos 1979 bring the heat

Death From Above 1979 is the latest band to collaborate with Sneaky Dee’s by putting their stamp on the infamous institution’s menu.

Death From Above 1979 Nachos are the first on the menu to feature pulled pork, and also include tons of cheese, habaneros, jalapeños, black beans, sliced avocado and guacamole, pico de gallo, green onions – all topped with a single, whole habanero.

A warning: Before biting into that pepper or bravely munching on the sliced ones, please note these nachos are not served with sour cream (or a glass of milk). When I casually crunched down on a couple at this week’s media preview, the room got a little shaky, my mouth started salivating an awful amount and my lips burned as I mumbled, “Can’t really talk right now. Back in a few minutes.” Nothing close to Homer’s pepper trip but for those who cannot handle heat you’re forewarned!

Not the only musician-created fare on the menu, DFA is in good company – Sneaky Dee’s began this tradition in 2011 with Cancer Bats‘ The Destroyer nachos, followed by Lights‘ Cactus in The Valley nachos and two breakfasts by Fucked Up: the Queen of Heart Attacks and the aptly titled Fucked Up Breakfast. All of the musician collaborations are still on the menu.

Death From Above 1979 nachos will run you $19.79. But from today until March 29, there’s a chance the restaurant will pay for your entire bill when you order them.
