Sadie’s Diner to shut down

Sad news for Toronto herbivores: Sadie’s Diner and Juice Bar (504 Adelaide West, 416-777-2343), a beloved spot for vegan and vegetarian-friendly breakfasts and comfort food, is set to close. Owner Al Ridley is set to retire at the end of the month, according to posts on his Facebook page.

The Portland and Adelaide diner built up a loyal following over its nine years in operation thanks to its diner-style menu and homey atmosphere. They lent their walls to local artists seeking gallery space, and frequently hosted ‘Chili for Charity’ nights benefiting various animal shelters.

The diner will remain open until Sunday, June 28 – so run over and get some vegan rancheros or chili sin carne while you still can.
