The Drake goes downtown

When the Drake announced last week that Ted Corrado had been named “executive corporate chef” at both the boutique hotel and its soon-to-launch Drake Devonshire Inn in Prince Edward County, they failed to mention that the former C5 toque will also be overseeing its new Drake 150 restaurant in the core.

A website set up yesterday coyly hints that the resto will be located “within a post-modern office building” “in the heart of Toronto’s financial district” but doesn’t mention where it exactly is or when it’s going to open, though you can enter a contest to win tickets to the launch party.

After a bit of culinary detective work – and people wonder what we do all day! – NOW can reveal that the Drake 150’s new home is on the first floor of 150 York, directly across the street from such Bay Street hang-outs as the Keg and Hy’s. Judging by the look of construction, that opening party is a good couple of months away.
