Long considered one of the best Indian restaurants in the GTA, Debu Saha's Biryani House has closed. The lease on the extremely challenging Wellesley space was up, and chef Saha thought it time to move on.
"I'll be travelling to study in New York and France and India," says the always convivial Saha. "There's so much I want to learn. But I'll be opening a new Indo fusion spot when I come back next year."

Le Select to Leslieville?
Leslieville is abuzz with talk that the folks behind long-running Le Sélect have taken over vacated Verveine. Not quite. Instead, it seems former LS chef Brad Clark is behind the soft launch this week of Fare Bistro (1097 Queen East, at Pape, 416-645-0914). The focus promises to be classic Franco grub with a contemporary spin. There'll be brunch, too.
But what's with the lame name? Other than the inevitable All's Fair At Fare, I fear the resto's innocuous handle begs for the headline Fare's Fare Fair.
