Susur Photoshopped in front of his new digs.
Not content with the Big Apple at his feet, local celebu-chef Susur Lee has set his culinary sights on Washington, DC.
The Thompson Hotel Group whose Manhattan hipster outpost LES is home to the Lee-helmed Shang - has just announced that Lee will also oversee Zentan the new restaurant in its Washington, DC Donovan House. The room was slated to open this spring as Cha under even bigger celebu-chef Todd English, but the Boston-based TV star has left the project for reasons unknown. Enter Susur Lee.
Set to open June 8 and located "just a stone's throw from the White House" if one were allowed to throw them there, Zentan promises "favorites from Lee's restaurants Shang and Lee" -Singapore Slaw, anyone? - as well as something Susur has never done before: sushi. And, according to Craigslist, he's hiring!
And don't forget that later this summer Toronto is about to get one of the Thompson Hotel Group's ultra-chic boutique hotels of its own at 550 Wellington West, an address that's virtually in the backyard of Susur's King West cantinas.
